The claims administration manager is responsible for mitigating risks and limiting liability related to worker's compensation. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

What you’ll do:

  • Supervises activities of the claim’s unit including the investigation, negotiation, and resolution, including settlement of worker's compensation claims.
  • Coordinates activities involving self-insurance plan including applicable outside contracts with network providers; supervises preparation of annual reports.
  • Serves as a member of the department’s Fit for Duty team to determine employees’ ability to perform job tasks.

  • Implements and coordinates department processes involving employee occupational health programs such as drug and alcohol testing and pre-employment physicals. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding health programs.

  • Serves as liaison with department personnel, human resources personnel, and the chief counsel’s office to resolve problems and determine appropriate action regarding drug test and preemployment physical results, and other health program activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: Business Administration, Public Administration, Safety/Risk Management, or related field, AND six years of experience in an area related to risk management, OR
    Ten years of experience in an area related to risk management.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
