Claims Representative, Bodily Injury

We are currently seeking a Bodily Injury Claims Representative to fill a position in our Boston office, directly across the street from South Station. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Claims Representative to join our growing team and start a career with a financially sound company.

Responsibilities

  • Contact insureds, attorneys and other parties in conformance with Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers' (CAR) guidelines to gather required information.
  • Develop and maintain case files that document all actions.
  • Understand personal lines and commercial lines automobile coverages; adhere to the policy contract including related coverages, exclusions, etc.
  • Investigate, analyze, and evaluate liability and damages.
  • Establish adequate and timely reserves in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Provide equitable evaluations and settlements through negotiations.
  • Direct and monitor defense counsel in the handling of cases in litigation, through conclusion either by trial or settlement.
  • Identify, investigate, and refer potential fraudulent claims to SIU.
  • Answer questions and resolve problems within established levels of authority.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team orientation; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional telephone customer service skills
  • Demonstrated level of competency in time management, priority setting, action orientation and customer focus.
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
  • BA/BS degree or commensurate casualty claims experience required.
  • 2+ years of handling Massachusetts automobile claims required.
  • Commercial automobile experience preferred.
  • Some litigation experience preferred.

Salary Range: $61,000 -$80,000 a year. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
