Claims Specialist

As a Claims Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting beneficiaries, policyholders, agents, and funeral homes by ensuring claims are set up accurately, processed efficiently, and handled with empathy and professionalism.

What you’ll accomplish with us

As a Claims Specialist, you’ll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:

  • Communicate with customers through inbound/outbound calls, written correspondence, and email to support new and existing claims.

  • Open new claims within established guidelines, including verifying in‑force coverage and gathering required documentation.

  • Explain policy coverage clearly and provide accurate information to beneficiaries and policyholders.

  • Research policy contracts to resolve questions and issues.

  • Determine when requests should be escalated to other departments or management.

  • Prepare letters and update the claims system for newly reported claims.

  • Provide follow‑up on outstanding requirements for pending claims.

  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, inquiries, complaints, and actions taken.

  • Maintain familiarity with company products, policies, and internal resources.

  • Assist with incoming calls and overflow work for various Claims functions.

  • Participate in special projects and assignments as needed.

  • Conduct business ethically and in compliance with all laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is known for their strong attention to detail

  • Stands out for their excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrates strong research and problem‑solving abilities

  • Is recognized for their ability to stay organized and prioritize effectively

  • Has 1+ years of customer service or administrative experience (life claims experience preferred but not required)

  • Can type 35+ WPM and learn new software systems quickly

  • Charter of the French language clause (if applicable): Requires a beginner, intermediate, or advanced level of English proficiency, as the role involves communicating with customers, agents, and internal teams on a regular basis.
