Class B CDL Driver/Operator

Looking to grow your operating career with a great team driven company? Northern Waste is looking for experienced driver/operators with a Class B CDL (minimum) with air brake certification & a great driving record to join our team.

This fulltime, year-round position will focus primarily on executing refuse & recycling routes, with occasionally assisting in/around the shop as demand requires.

Responsibilities

· Report to Operations Manager

· Knowledge/practice of ALL best safety protocol for all areas of the job

· Execute daily refuse and/or recycling routes safely & timely

· Adhere to the Northern Waste standard operating procedures for optimum customer care

· Become proficient in the use of proprietary operational systems used for daily routes & dispatch

· General maintenance of assigned vehicle & reporting of repairs needed

· Wash exterior of vehicles as assigned

· Process work-orders associated with deliveries, repairs & general services

· Communicate customer service, site, equipment needs with department leads, as needed

· Assist in shop as needed for preparing, repairing, delivering dumpsters

· Continuously improve through feedback

Skills/Requirements

· Class B CDL (minimum) & proven driving record

· Must be able to pass background check & drug test

· Knowledge of Anchorage, Eagle River & surrounding area roads

· Ability to adapt to a variety of duties daily based on customer demand

· Highly motivated & ability to follow instruction

· Solutions focused to expedite the resolution of customer problems to maximize satisfaction

· Knowledge of forklift operation & other equipment required for the day-to-day duties

· Able to use a power washer & other manual & power tools as needed for daily duties

· Able to trouble shoot mechanical problems/basic repairs for assigned equipment/vehicles such has changing tires, etc

· Ability to climb on/off the truck, bending, grasping, handling & reaching

· Ability to sit in a vehicle for long stretches of time

· Lifting & carrying up to 50lbs/other heavy lifting as needed

· Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

· Willing to work early mornings, Saturdays & overtime as needed

Additional consideration for applicants with experience in heavy duty mechanics, welding, & commercial vehicle operators including but not limited to frontload & roll off trucks refuse trucks.
