The Classroom and Nutrition Aide supports the Head Start of Fayette County Program by helping with daily meal service and classroom activities for preschool-aged children. This role ensures a safe, healthy, and welcoming mealtime environment, while also reinforcing positive habits, manners, and safety practices. The position also assists with classroom transitions, record-keeping, and other program needs, contributing to the overall success of Head Start’s education and nutrition goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate and assist with setup, serving, and cleanup of meals and snacks.
- Eat with children to encourage conversation, positive social skills, and proper use of utensils.
- Reinforce health, safety, and hygiene practices throughout mealtime.
- Maintain accurate logs and records related to food service and sanitation.
- Support staff with arrival and departure routines.
- Attend trainings, workshops, and meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support classroom and program needs.
What You Bring:
- High School Diploma or willingness to obtain GED within 1 year of employment.
- Experience with food service and/or supervising preschool children preferred.
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Patience and strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
