The Classroom and Nutrition Aide supports the Head Start of Fayette County Program by helping with daily meal service and classroom activities for preschool-aged children. This role ensures a safe, healthy, and welcoming mealtime environment, while also reinforcing positive habits, manners, and safety practices. The position also assists with classroom transitions, record-keeping, and other program needs, contributing to the overall success of Head Start’s education and nutrition goals.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate and assist with setup, serving, and cleanup of meals and snacks.
  • Eat with children to encourage conversation, positive social skills, and proper use of utensils.
  • Reinforce health, safety, and hygiene practices throughout mealtime.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records related to food service and sanitation.
  • Support staff with arrival and departure routines.
  • Attend trainings, workshops, and meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support classroom and program needs.

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma or willingness to obtain GED within 1 year of employment.
  • Experience with food service and/or supervising preschool children preferred.
  • Problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Patience and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
