Job Description/Standards
Qualifications:
1. Must be a high school graduate with at least 4 years (8,000 hours) of satisfactory and reasonably continuous work experience in the occupation for which licensure is requested
or have a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years (4,000 hours) of satisfactory and reasonably continuous work experience in area for which licensure is requested
or have an Associate Degree in an area related to the specialization and complete 2 years (4,000 hours) of satisfactory and reasonably continuous work experience in the area for which licensure is requested. Work experience must be verified by a notarized V-10 form.
2. Hold a HVAC Technician Certificate issued by the West Virginia Division of Labor.
3. Enroll in and complete CTE teacher training program as prescribed and administered by the West Virginia Department of Education.
4. Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia State Board of Education Minimum Standards for licensure of West Virginia School Personnel.
5. Career and Technical Education Certificate or a Professional Teaching Certificate endorsed for a specialization in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (7083).
6. Good evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors.
7. Ability to communicate effectively with industry, students, school personnel, and parents.
8. Educational philosophy compatible with Roane-Jackson Technical Center Administrative Council.
9. Ability to work cooperatively with others, including industry, parents, and community members.
10. High Academic achievement in college education program or industry certification program.
11. Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.
12. Participate as a sponsor for the student organization SkillsUSA.
13. Develop and foster relationships for the program with the WVDE, local business and industry, local county boards of education and higher education institutions in the region.
14. Participate in programmatic and school-wide accreditation initiatives.
15. Recommended by the Technical Center Director and Faculty Senate representative(s).
16. Successfully complete a criminal background check.
17. A flexible instructional style
18. A demonstrated collaborative attitude and belief in co-teaching.
19. Demonstrates ease with using instructional technology.
