Indiana School for the Blind & Visually Impaired (ISBVI):
The School is nationally and internationally recognized for its excellence and best practices in educating children and young adults who are blind or have low vision. The School is a critical resource for Indiana’s children who are blind or have low vision and the teachers, parents, and caregivers who work with them. Every year, we educate hundreds of children and young adults ranging from 3 to 22 years old and living in all parts of Indiana, many of whom, due to severe or multiple disabilities, other schools in the state have difficulty serving or cannot serve.
Role Overview:
The Clerical Assistant supports the efforts of the Outreach Team by being available for customer support to school districts, reviewing and editing consultation reports, verifying and entering billing, and overall organization of the office. You will partner with the Director, Consultants, and Orientation and Mobility Specialists to respond to inquiries and service requests.
Your work will have a direct impact on the population we serve in our school and external school districts.
This role requires:

- Technical skills for billing school districts and tracking invoices.
This role is located at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Indianapolis, Indiana. Braille is not required for this role.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $27,638.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
- Support daily office operations perform general office tasks.
- Respond to inquiries and direct them to the appropriate individuals.
- Open, sort, and route incoming mail and correspondence. Prepare outgoing mail.
- Send, receive, and process billings for various consultive services and program items.
- Accurately maintain and organize office files.
- Deliver messages and run errands.
- Maintain inventory, orders, and distributes supplies.
- Complete tasks or projects assigned by supervisor in a timely manner.

What You'll Need for Success:

- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work with sensitive documents and information, and be privy to sensitive agency information without divulging information to internal or external parties.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to provide effective and professional customer service to internal and external parties.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required.
