Job Details:
Scheduled Hours: 6:00am - 6:30pm, every third weekend
A Brief Overview
Performs reception and a variety of clerical functions and tasks utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures related to department specific needs. Provides basic patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse as required. Provides high quality care to the following patient populations: Adult, Medical/Surgical, Geriatric, and Telemetry.
What you will do

Greet visitors and callers to ascertain purpose of visit or call, and direct them to appropriate staff.

Facilitate admissions, discharges and transfers in collaboration with other staff.

Operate office equipment such as: nurse call, fax, scanners, photocopier, computer system, telephone system, and telemetry.

Perform various clerical and administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.

Perform quality checks on equipment.

Transport specimens and blood products.

Adhere to safety practices for own personal protection, i.e. gloves for blood product pickup.

Flexibility in unit assignment as directed by patient care needs.

Demonstrate accurate keyboarding proficiency and computer navigation skills.
Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Completion of C.N.A course if currently in high school. Required

Medical Terminology course or within one year of hire Preferred

1-3 years computer classes/experience Preferred

1-3 years previous experience in the medical field Preferred

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Certified Nursing Assistant Preferred
MCU - Will not take telemetry patients, CNA course completion is required for MCU. May be required to go into airborne isolation (wear N95 or air mate).
