Position Summary

Performs complex (journey level) editorial and communications work involving the collection of information to draft, organize, and revise content of written and digital materials. This work includes editing agency reports and strategic communications for publication to the Legislature, news media, customers, and the general public. Works under general supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

  • Editing for errors, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax;
  • Gathering information from agency subject matter experts;
  • Drafting documents in the agency’s voice and ensuring that documents comply with the agency’s Style Guide;
  • Verifying facts, dates, and statistics included in documents;
  • Preparing documents for publication;
  • Designing pages, arranging text, and formatting images for readability and visual appeal; and
  • Writing first drafts of documents, media statements, newsletter content, email communications;
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
  • A recent graduate, or a student currently enrolled in a college or university as an undergraduate, with a major or course work in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Must possess academic performance that is considered in good academic standing by college/university standards.
