Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, confident, and proactive Client Care Coordinator to join our behavioral health treatment team. This role is essential for supporting clients throughout their treatment journey, ensuring safety, engagement, and retention in care.
The ideal candidate has direct care experience working with mental health and/or substance use disorder populations and demonstrates strong skills in conflict resolution, de-escalation, empathy, and AMA (Against Medical Advice) prevention strategies.
This position plays a critical role in client experience, crisis intervention, and supporting clinical and operations teams in maintaining a therapeutic, structured, and safe environment.
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and supervision to clients in a residential/inpatient setting
- Build rapport with clients to promote engagement and treatment retention
- Facilitate activities with the clients
- Utilize motivational interviewing and de-escalation techniques to support clients in crisis
- Implement AMA blocking strategies to reduce premature discharges
- Respond to behavioral concerns and support conflict resolution among clients
- Monitor client mood, behavior, and participation in programming
- Collaborate closely with Clinical, Nursing, Case Management, and Operations teams
- Document client interactions, incidents, and behavioral observations in the EMR
- Support clients during transitions (intake, level changes, discharge planning)
- Maintain a structured, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented environment
- Assist with transportation coordination, activities, and client engagement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of direct care experience in a behavioral health, mental health, detox, or residential treatment setting
- Strong understanding of substance use disorder and/or dual-diagnosis populations
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Conflict resolution
- Crisis intervention
- De-escalation techniques
- AMA blocking strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred
Preferred Experience
- Experience in detox, residential, PHP, or inpatient psychiatric settings
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles
- Familiarity with Joint Commission or CARF standards
