Client Team Paralegal

Position Summary:
Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, has an opportunity for a litigation paralegal seeking a role with increased flexibility without giving up the challenge of a full-cycle litigation practice. Working with a small dedicated team of attorneys servicing the firm’s largest client, this litigation paralegal will focus on defending the client in wage and hour individual arbitrations. Core responsibilities will regularly include, but will not be limited to, project administration, reporting, managing litigation, preparing and summarizing documents, organizing case and project files, managing discovery-related activities, using automation to create draft motions, witness outlines and other documents for attorney review.

This position may be remote, but the successful candidate must reside in a state where we have a physical office.

Essential Functions:
  • Researches law, investigates facts, and independently prepares documents to assist attorneys with matters.
  • Summarizes complex legal documents
  • Organizes and indexes complex case files
  • Determines and calendars deadlines
  • Performs wide variety of legal research and data compilation, with little or no supervision
  • Files pleadings with court clerk
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, declarations and complaints
  • Drafts a wide variety of legal documents
  • Prepares affidavits or documents and maintains document file
  • Prepares for mediations and trials
  • Assists Attorneys at trial
  • Assists Attorney in preparation for depositions
  • Communicates with witnesses and experts
  • Scheduling
  • Enters billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner
  • Coordinates major projects or cases, some of which may involve the work of multiple paralegals
Requirements:
  • Paralegal certification / degree from accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Paralegal experience is preferred, in particular working in a labor/employment practice and Class Action/PAGA matters.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams; Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw, Live Note, Document Management System, expense and billing systems.
  • Experience working with SmartSheet is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and take initiative on tasks/projects with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a self-learner with the motivation to continuously develop skillsets, particularly pertaining to ever-changing software and technology.

Benefits:

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $50,320 and $75,480. In accordance with New York State’s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York State position is between $45,660 and $83,400. In accordance with California’s amended labor code as stated in Senate Bill 1162, the expected salary range for this California position is between $47,120 and $83,400. In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities act, the expected salary range for this Washington position is between $52,880 and $79,320. In accordance with the Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act, the expected salary range for this DC position is between $52,880 and $79,320. In accordance with Maryland’s Equal Pay for Equal Work-Wage Range Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Baltimore position is between $47,120 and $70,680. In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act Transparency Notice, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $52,880 and $79,320. In accordance with Massachusetts Frances Perkins Workplace Equity Act, the expected salary range for this Massachusetts position is between $55,600 and $83,400. In accordance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Minnesota position is between $47,120 and $70,680. In accordance with New Jersey Senate Bill 2310, the expected salary range for this New Jersey position is between $55,600 and $83,400. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This position qualifies for the benefits below.
