The Climate Kitchen Initiative Research Specialist is responsible for aiding in designing studies, analyzing and disseminating research, assisting with writing grant proposals and scientific publications, and initiative organizational tasks. Contribute to short- and mid-term research and project planning, manage large interdisciplinary projects, and oversee processes and standards for communications and outreach activities related to the larger initiative. Previous experience with research and outreach related to local and regional food systems, food agency and access and sustainability is strongly preferred so the applicant may assist in field and lab work during an annual research institute. This role requires advanced problem-solving across complex and novel research questions. The applicant should be comfortable using mixed-methods in research design and implementation and possess strong writing skills across various genres. Additionally, the position involves regular collaboration across academic departments and institutes, and will support research design, analysis, and writing for other researchers and graduate students involved in the initiative. They will contribute to the strategic direction of the initiative.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Master’s degree in food systems, community nutrition or equivalent field; minimum 2 years work experience in research settings; previous participation in grant oversight and submissions

Desirable Qualifications
Doctoral degree and experience with long-term team-based projects and previous publications across various genres including media and academic scholarship.

Anticipated Pay Range
$45,000 - $50,000 at a .75 FTE
Special Conditions
A probationary period may be required, Contingent on continued funding, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
