Position Summary
Under the supervision of Provost and Director of Nursing, Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the overall success of Nursing Programs (BSN, LVN, and RN-TO-BSN) in Department of Nursing, CNI College. Responsible for clinical placement through high-level planning, organization, and communication of student clinical placement. Provide key administrative and organizational support to the Nursing Department and program support services to the Clinical Area. Collect data and analyze information to support the CNI College’s academic policies and procedures related to the Clinical Area and Education. The incumbent works closely with the Provost on education initiatives and programs to meet goal of providing quality education to the students.
Duties and Functions
- Provide day-to-day support to clinical operations of all nursing programs.
- Keep an updated list of clinical sites at all times for all programs.
- Researches and prioritizes prospective contractual sites.
- Establishes and maintains positive public relations with prospective and approved clinical site personnel during contract negotiations, finalization and implementation phases.
- Assists in the utilization of the clinical/hospital and agency facilities to meet program and course outcomes for the Nursing Program.
- Assist in updating record/spreadsheet in department student tracking system to ensure current active affiliation with clinical sites and preceptors are available to students.
- Coordinates clinical site selection, affiliation agreements, and rotation schedule for the Nursing Department.
- Analyze program schedule every term and plan clinical student assignments accordingly.
- Ensure that all paperwork including contracts are in place before the start of the clinical.
- Fulfill clinical requirements for each sites by collecting information from the students and faculty.
- Monitor student information entered into the COMPLIO to ensure compliance with the clinical documents required.
- Implement the process of submitting required information relating to health forms and clearance by students.
- Understandsall externship orientation paperwork. Prepare for the orientation by preparing orientation packet for students and instructors.
- Attest that the student has fulfilled the requirements and provide the information to clinical sites.
- Assists in assuring faculty are present in clinical sites per teaching assignments.
- Assist the DON in covering for or arranges coverage for faculty absences from clinical assignments.
- Attends faculty meetings, department in-service/meetings; serves on committees, as requested and provides constructive input to resolve problems.
- Maintains expertise/competence in area of specialty; reads and keeps current on latest technology and requirements in the area of specialty.
- Makes on-site agency visits; visits students on clinical assignment.
- Provides early problem identification and resolution related to areas of concerns/needs of the ADN program and/or prospective and current clinical training site personnel.
- Tracks all site visited daily and mileage spreadsheet.
- Maintaining sites. Taking gifts/food promos etc to sites which is will be provided by CNI.
- Visiting clinical sites and maintaining all required paperwork and documentation.
- Conveys concerns and problems as well as exemplary conduct to Program Director.
- Provide expertise and assist the DON and Provost in developing schedule for all nursing programs.
- Disseminate the academic schedule and calendar to the stakeholders.
- Ensure that all nursing staff clocks/in & out using ADP. Send a reminder email; collect forms; provide forms to DON; Print time cards and get signatures before providing them to HR.
- Ensure that the students’ files are complete.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Must have a U.S Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in Health Sciences or Health Care Administration.
- Must maintain current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in patient care; effective in directing and evaluating student learning, laboratory performance, and clinical performance while providing patient care; and be prepared in educational theory and techniques.
- Must have a valid CA driver’s license and have personal insurance coverage in line with company driver’s policy.
