Clinical Data Abstracter - Lymphoma Myeloma
Job Summary:
Responsible for abstracting and coding clinical and research data from patient medical records using established classification systems. Ensures data quality through interactive reviews and enters information in coded form according to institutional, state, and accreditation guidelines. May also contribute to special projects.
Ideal Candidate Statement:
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented with a strong background in science, holding at minimum a bachelor's degree in a related field. They possess extensive experience, spending approximately 95% of their time-reviewing medical records and entering data into study databases, particularly REDCap and/or Epic. A deep understanding of medical terminology, imaging reports, and pathology reports is essential.
Preferred candidates will have an international medical degree or prior experience working in hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, myeloma, or lymphoma. A background in blood cancers is strongly desired. The candidate must demonstrate accuracy in abstracting and coding clinical and research data from patient records using standardized classification systems, ensuring data quality and compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standards.
They will thrive in a collaborative team environment that includes two clinical data abstractors and two research data specialists. Additionally, the ideal candidate is proactive, committed to continuous improvement, and capable of contributing to special projects that support high-quality research and data integrity.
Salary Range: Min $43,000 Mid $54,000 Max $65,000

This role involves abstracting and coding information from patient medical records to obtain clinical and research data using established classification systems. The candidate is responsible for performing interactive quality reviews of the abstracted data and accurately assigning and entering information into coded form. All data abstraction is conducted in adherence to institutional guidelines to ensure internal use and maintain compliance with state and accreditation requirements. Additionally, the role includes participation in special projects to support ongoing improvements and initiatives.

EDUCATION-
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

WORK EXPERIENCE-
Required: 2 years Experience in tumor registry, healthcare or related field.

May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

NOTE - This position requires onsite presence - Monday through Friday 8am - 430pm.
