Job Description
Job Scope:
Performs a variety of specialized duties related to the receipt, interpretation and implementation of patient diet orders. Ensures hospital in-patients & out-patients receive appropriate nutrition care meeting their medical condition.
Job Responsibilities:
- Keeps lines of communication open between Medical Staff and Dietary Department.
- Interprets physician diet orders and modifies diet according to diet patterns and patient preferences
- Plans nutritional care for patients and formulates improved techniques and procedures in the preparation of diets to patients.
- Instructs patients in diet principles and restrictions per physician diet order and documents pertinent information
- Provides substitutions if patient is unable to eat the meal provided, in accordance with diet restrictions
- Completes a nutritional assessment on patients receiving a tube feeding or parenteral nutrition
- Observes patient's acceptance of diets and make notations in appropriate forms.
- Completes diet histories for nutritional assessment on specific patients through the record system
- Evaluates appropriateness of diet order for diagnosis and recommends diet order changes as indicated
- Supervises the preparation of special food diet to ensure proper quantity, quality and accuracy of ingredients and verifies accuracy of diets served to patients.
- Maintains updated and necessary patient education materials and nutrition references and textbooks
- Plans, coordinates and implements the department’s Quality Assurance Program
- Participates in the development of policies and programs directed toward patient and family education
- Participates in department and implementation educational programs and meets the mandatory in-service requirement in utilities management, infection control, safety and blood-borne pathogens
- Participates in patient care plan meetings, support groups as requested or deemed necessary, and Dietary Department management meetings
- Proposes ideas to improve nutrition care process and clinic revenue
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with a major in in Nutrition and Dietetics is required.
- Master’s Degree or advanced degree with a major in foods and nutrition is a plus.
- Hospital Internship of at least 6 months with proven certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years proven & complete experience as licensed dietician with proven certificate.
- Valid & transferable Kuwait MOH License as Dietician or can be licensed as per the MOH requirements.
- Good standing certificate from the Dietetic Association of their home country.
