Job Title: Clinical Informaticist PACE


Job Summary

The Clinical Informaticist develops and helps to maintain the electronic medical system software applications and databases for Florida PACE Centers. This includes but is not limited to: Developing an understanding of the application functionality, reporting capabilities, interfacing and integration associated with clinical applications assigned.

The Clinical Informaticist also plays a role in ensuring compliance with all State and Federal contractual requirements regarding quality management. The Clinical Informaticist reports to the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Manager.


Essential Job Functions

  • Conducts chart audits to oversee documentation compliance as require maintaining the EHR.
  • Research patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancies and/or improve workflow.
  • Facilitate clinical content team – work with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals to evaluate current EMR functionality and develop future applications by building consensus and using efficient decision-making processes.
  • Interpret, modify, analyze and design clinical systems, data and information.
  • Recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems.
  • Assist with the configuration and setup of new users within the clinical systems as they relate to the EHR.
  • Works with the members of the clinical team, IT team and the project team to implement clinical applications, as applicable
  • Identifies and manages changes in clinical workflow that will need to be made with system changes
  • Responsible for the administration of PACE Electronic Health Record System
  • Assists departments to implement workflow changes in conjunction with the QAPI Manager.
  • Creates and manages workflow diagrams and project documentation
  • Assists team members to identify and resolve problems with the application
  • Follows through to ensure resolution of problems, recommend long term solutions as appropriate and communicate to the individual reporting the problem
  • Assists in beta-testing new system applications and other special assignments as directed
  • Trains end-user staff members on clinical applications

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics or related degree required

Experience:

  • 3-5 years working with an Electronic Medical Record in a Health Care setting can substitute for the bachelor’s degree
  • 1 year working in healthcare environment preferred
  • 1 year on Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance - preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License & Proof of insurance

Abilities Required

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. May require specialized knowledge of a business line.


Core competencies include the ability to communicate effectively, work as an independent professional, be self-motivated, and work effectively in a team setting to facilitate timely and successful EHR systems deployment and program execution.


  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and analytical skills are absolutely required
  • Ability to interface effectively with other company departments
  • Strong problem and issue resolution experience
  • Ability to be involved in multiple projects at the same time
  • Good organizational skills, be able to prioritize multiple activities and objectives in a rapidly changing environment, and deliver quality service
  • Ability to articulate technical and user needs in a concise manner easily
  • Medical terminology and understanding of workflows are critical.
  • Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

  • Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation

Infectious Material Exposure:

  • No routine exposure to blood/body fluids but may occasionally require performing activities which may involve exposure to unsanitary conditions.
