Clinical Informaticist - FT

Serves as a liaison between clinical staff and information technology functions to optimize the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and other clinical technologies. Focuses on improving clinical workflows, data integrity, patient safety, and regulatory compliance through effective system configuration, training, analysis, and ongoing optimization. Provides training and support to providers, nursing, and ancillary staff in the effective use of health information systems to enhance quality of care, efficiency, and outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support clinical information systems.
  • Serve as a primary clinical resource for electronic health record (EHR) and clinical application support.
  • Analyze, design, and optimize clinical workflows within the EHR to improve efficiency, accuracy, and patient care.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, testing, validation, and ongoing optimization of clinical systems and modules.
  • Collaborate with IT staff, vendors, and clinical leadership to resolve system issues and implement enhancements.
  • Provide clinical staff training and support.
  • Develop and deliver training and education for providers, nursing staff, and ancillary personnel on EHR use and clinical applications.
  • Provide at-the-elbow support during system go-lives, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
  • Create and maintain training materials, documentation, and workflow guides.
  • Clinical data, quality, and compliance support.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and analytics related to quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in ensuring documentation accuracy and clinical data integrity within the EHR.
  • Collaborate with leadership on initiatives related to CMS, quality reporting, performance improvement, and clinical outcomes.
  • Serve as a clinical and vendor liaison.
  • Serve as liaison between clinical departments and EHR vendors.
  • Participate in vendor meetings, system updates, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure clinical needs are appropriately communicated and addressed in system configurations and upgrades.
  • Evaluate existing clinical documentation, workflows, and system use to promote best practices and standardization.
  • Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of policies and procedures related to clinical information systems.
  • Promote adoption of evidence-based practices and informatics standards across the organization.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Clinical Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or a related healthcare field.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical healthcare environment and experience with electronic health records (EHR), clinical workflows, or healthcare IT systems required. Experience in system implementation, optimization, training, or clinical data analytics preferred

PERSONAL JOB-RELATED SKILLS: Ability to analyze clinical processes and translate operational needs into technical solutions. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with clinical, administrative, and IT staff. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Demonstrated proficiency with computers, data systems, and healthcare applications.

LICENSURE, REGISTRY, CERTIFICATIONS: Clinical licensure (e.g., RN, LVN, or other allied health license) required. Relevant certifications such as AMIA CHI, CPHIMS, CHDA, CPHQ or similar preferred.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties of the position require extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Some bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The ability to concentrate, analyze complex information, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions. The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
