Position Summary:

The Clinical Information Systems Environment Release Manager establishes and governs a disciplined change control and release management framework for Epic across test and production environments. The role ensures safe, predictable, and high-quality Epic build and data movement by managing Data Courier and Content Management controls, supporting a standardized Agile testing and release calendar, and partnering with IS and business leaders to enable informed decision-making, data integrity, and operational stability across the Epic ecosystem.

Compensation is dependent on skills and experience.

Your contribution to the team includes:

  • Design, implement, and govern Epic change control and release management processes to ensure safe, consistent, and well-coordinated build movement across Epic test and production environments.
  • Manage Epic environment configuration and data migration controls, including Data Courier and Content Management, to support standardized Agile testing and release calendars while ensuring data quality, integrity, and system stability.
  • Serve as a leader in Epic environment management supporting ongoing incidents, maintenance, development and upgrades by setting guidelines for environment use, including development, testing, production and training.
  • Work with the Sr. Program Manager to ensure alignment with business and IS strategies, inform assessment and development of long-term goals related to clinical technology in conjunction with external vendors.
  • Participate in the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and lead regular Change Review Group meetings to ensure all changes are communicated, understood and vetted for impacts across the clinical applications and learning environment(s). Own agendas, meeting cadences and action items.
  • Act as a focal point for communicating related system problems within the department and collaborate with other teams/vendors on changes, fixes, and updates.
  • Proven knowledge of Epic Data Courier and Content Management structures. Certified in Epic Data Courier and Content Management applications.
  • Create and maintain sprint calendar/change windows for all clinical applications and learning to utilize. Manage sprint processes for test and production windows, along with other windows including maintenance and incidents.
  • Follow best practice environment strategy guidelines, adjusting processes as needed to ensure an efficient approach.
  • Lead all data migration and production moves across the Epic ecosystem.
  • Understand Agile principles and can apply as needed while managing the clinical information systems environments.
  • Perform maintenance, research and testing of systems including generating error reports, maintaining tables, and documenting all system changes and statuses in a complete and thorough manner.
  • Contribute to standing system governance as assigned.
  • Develop and provide clear metrics and status reports to appropriate individuals and teams.

  • Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences to ensure shared understanding of environment changes, risks, dependencies, and release plans.
  • Ensure timely and transparent communication of change schedules and release activities among team members and IS leadership so that all Epic environment changes are visible, coordinated, and well understood.
  • Identify and document environment defects and manage the process of escalating such defects to the appropriate external resources, e.g. Epic hosting product vendor, direct Epic vendor, Liberty vendor.
  • Provide operational and subject-matter support to internal teams, including escalation assistance, peer training, onboarding support, and guidance to ensure consistent and effective application
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage assigned application work and sprint activities, using IT service management tools to intake, track, prioritize, and deliver work within established timelines and scope.
  • Collaborate with sites and departments to improve workflows and system efficiency, including facilitating meetings and site visits to support process improvement, integration, and effective use of software solutions.
  • Ensure that work is completed according to established standards, policies, and procedures, and in compliance with regulations, laws, and accrediting agency rules.

Must have’s you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4)-year college or university in healthcare, information systems, business, informatics, nursing, or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare, including at least three (3) years supporting or managing clinical information systems or electronic health records. Demonstrated experience owning or leading an application, module, or product domain, including prioritization, roadmap planning, and stakeholder engagement. Experience with electronic health record systems, preferably Epic. Experience working within Agile or hybrid delivery models preferred.
  • Maintain active certification in an Epic application, or ability to become certified in an Epic application within six (6) months of employment and maintain certification once obtained.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional and industry journals, technical procedures and reports, and governmental regulations. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clinical, operational, technical, and vendor stakeholders to gather input, align priorities, and support product decisions. Ability to prepare clear reports and business correspondence and to speak effectively in front of groups of employees, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Advanced ability to use computers and related software programs, including Microsoft Office and collaboration tools, to support product planning, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication. Proficiency in electronic health record systems required; Epic preferred.
  • Ability to define and assess problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical, clinical, and operational information. Ability to think constructively, evaluate alternatives and trade-offs, and balance short- and long-term product needs. Ability to develop, recommend, and implement action plans in collaboration with stakeholders.

Proof of vaccination for COVID-19 is required, prior to start. HealthPoint does not accept the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine as proof of vaccination. If you have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, we ask that you provide documentation demonstrating proof of an alternate COVID vaccine or vaccine series. All new employees are also required to show proof of immunizations and/or immunity to MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, annual Influenza and TB QuantiFERON Gold Titer. Additionally, if you work in a HealthPoint clinic, Tdap (within last 10 years) is required. Hepatitis B. is required for clinical employees with potential exposure to blood/blood products. All immunizations are a condition of employment. Upon hire, employees must provide proof of their immunizations and/or immune titer results prior to starting or no later than their fifth (5) business day of employment.
