Senior Clinical IT Analyst

Purpose and Scope of the Job

Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Cerner Analyst to join our IT Applications team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working across multiple Cerner modules, with a strong understanding of both clinical and operational workflows. This role involves system support, configuration, testing, and optimization of various Cerner solutions in collaboration with clinical and business stakeholders.


Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards

  • Provide design, configuration, and optimization of solutions within Cerner Millennium to effectively support and enhance clinical and operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational departments (physician, emergency, nursing, materials management) to understand workflow needs and implement system solutions accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain reports and queries (CCL and PI Reports).
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain CCL programs, Discern Rules, and PowerForms, ensuring alignment with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, and integration projects.
  • Support testing efforts, including test script creation, execution, and validation of changes in CERT and PROD environments.
  • Work with HIM, nursing, and physician teams to ensure documentation workflows are efficient and compliant.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (clinical, operational, IT, and external vendors) to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Provide end-user training and ongoing support as needed.
  • Ensure quality and patient safety practices are followed.
  • Provides or promotes people’s centered care.
  • Promotes inclusive health by providing equitable and accessible care to patients and families with special needs.

Qualifications, Competencies and Skills
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Cerner Certification(s) or formal training in relevant modules.

Experience:

  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience with Cerner Millennium systems, including advanced configuration, support, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations, with the ability to translate business needs into effective system solutions.
  • Proven experience working in a hospital or healthcare IT environment.
  • Solid experience with integration engines or interface troubleshooting.
  • Advanced proficiency in developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting CCL queries and reports, and custom solutions.

  • Physician & Nursing Documentation
  • Orders
  • Pharmacy
  • Emergency
  • Materials Management/Supply Chain
  • FSI
  • Discern Rules
  • Cerner Command Language (CCL)
  • Dynamic Documentation
Language: Well versed in English and Arabic Language will be an added advantage.
Computer Proficiency
  • Good Computer Skills, Proficient in MS Office and related software applications.
  • High proficiency with Computer Software, Programs & Hospital Operating Systems.

Performance Competencies

  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong negotiating skills to resolve any disputes and disciplinary matters.
  • Ability to work with all types of individuals in multiple settings and locations and to promote diversity in the workplace.
  • Must be able to prioritize and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
  • Awareness of required organizational practices and accreditation standards.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.
  • Good communication Skills.
