Duties & Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Performing pre-analytical specimen preparation, including sample receipt, accessioning, aliquoting, batch preparation, and specimen loading under supervision.
- Able to perform daily preventative maintenance of instruments within their signed competency training.
- Monitors instrument performance based on data and works with director and technical supervisor to recommend and implement method improvements.
- Assisting in clerical work including filing documents, taking phone calls, and preparing supplies for clients.
- Monitoring inventory, maintaining appropriate levels of laboratory supplies, refilling reagents for testing, and properly disposing of waste in the appropriate receptacle.
- Performs basic troubleshooting for laboratory orders, instrumentation, and informatics, escalating to the appropriate party as needed.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by Laboratory Technicians Leads, Laboratory Scientists, and the Laboratory Director.
- Communicating effectively with laboratory team members, supervisors, and clients in a timely manner.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be flexible to work outside of normal shift hours and/or overtime.
- Ability to follow instructions with accuracy and perform detailed tasks thoroughly and completely
- Capable of performing repetitive work with a high degree of precision
- Capable of working with biologic specimens in a safe manner
- Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to maintain high standards for all work with timely completion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Must be able to lift 30lbs or more
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Obtaining Bachelor's Degree in science-based field
- 1 year job-related experience in health professional field
- Background in chemistry, math, medical terminology, knowledge of specimen preparation techniques, and principles of operation of common laboratory instruments
