Pharmacy Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

The pharmacy technician provides excellent customer service and works closely with a pharmacist to ensure the health and safety of their patients. They accurately input patient demographic, insurance, and prescription data. Locates, dispenses, packs, and labels prescribed medication for patients that is then reviewed for accuracy by a pharmacist before being dispensed to the patient. Performs 340B audits. This position includes working Saturdays from 8am-12pm.

Job Duties

  • Accepting prescriptions or refill requests from patients and health care professionals and evaluating information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Recording medical histories while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Delivering quality customer service to patients and medical staff, responding to inquiries, questions, or requests, and referring them to Pharmacist for Medical Information.
  • Verifying accuracy of Prescriptions and Patient information.
  • Inputting Patient information, including Demographic, Insurance and Prescription data, filling Prescriptions, counting medications, attaching medication labels, and delivering medications at point of sale or otherwise.
  • Performing inventory audits, stocking, and purchasing supplies and medication.
  • Performing 340B audits for both the in-house pharmacy and 340B contract pharmacies.
  • Perform daily Cleaning, Compliance, and organizational tasks.

Competencies

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current PTCB Certification
  • Current Michigan Pharmacy Technician License

  • none

Work environment

  • Retail 340B Pharmacy located in outpatient medical practice setting, with occasional pre-planned community outreach programs.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment which involves frequent interruptions and interactions with people.
  • Occasional minimal travel may be required between Packard Health locations or for local outreach.
  • Available for occasional medication deliveries.

Physical demands

  • Must be able to use keyboard for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to read small print and computer monitor for long periods of time.
  • Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires long periods of time sitting, standing, or walking.

Travel required

  • Delivering Prescriptions
  • Possible meetings at our other locations

Required education and experience

  • High School Diploma of GED
  • Licensed Michigan Pharmacy Technician
  • Ability to operate software, such as EHR’s, office email, calendar, and remote meeting functions, internet browsers, and cloud-based platforms required.

Preferred education and experience

  • High School Diploma
  • PTCB Certified
  • 340B Experience
  • Experience with Liberty POS
  • Inventory Acumen

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
