Job Summary

The Clinical Performance Improvement Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the department’s performance improvement program for all patient care services offered to the detainee population at Cermak/Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC). The Clinical Performance Analyst will make recommendations for implementing improvement procedures and protocols necessary to be in compliance with the Department of Justices and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care guidelines.

Typical Duties

  • Develops the indicators of performance and conduct audits reporting results to the Director of Quality Improvement and Cermak management
  • Serves as a liaison for the Department of Corrections (DOC) on patient grievance process
  • Conducts audits by visual inspection and by collection and analysis of data to determine compliance with regulatory, accrediting and clinical practice standards and reports on trends indicative of the quality of services rendered
  • Recommends methodologies, actions, and/or modifications to provide structural clinical and system processes for improvement
  • Develops audit tools and establishes measures of performance
  • Responsible for the review and development of recurring reports and practices to promote continuous quality improvement
  • Develops methods and tools to be utilized by staff for monitoring quality and appropriateness of patient care on an ongoing basis
  • Assists with developing plans, presentations and/or participates in educational programs
  • Integrate audit findings into training necessary to overcome performance deficiencies
  • Works with Information Technology Department to develop a process the enables the creation of reports from the current electronic medical record systems
  • Maintains the Cook County Health (CCH) STAR report and submits quarterly to CCH Quality
  • Adheres to CCH attendance policy
  • Travel between facilities/divisions
  • Works closely with Nurse Coordinators to develop tools that may offer additional educational support to staff
  • Attends ongoing meetings and trainings at various locations and brings the information back to share and/or implement in quality and access to care for the detainees
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field from an accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years of experience with clinical quality assessment and performance
  • Knowledge of issues affecting the delivery of healthcare services
  • Must have work experience in a quality department or demonstrate the development of quality measures as a primary role (working on a quality project will not be accepted in lieu of direct quality experience)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an insured vehicle as duties may involve travel between facilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare Quality Management certification
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois
  • At least three (3) years of this experience in Corrections and/or Mental Health

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and principles of confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare reports and communicate performance information
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and respect in caring for patients and in dealing with clients of diverse backgrounds

  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Cerner EMR
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
