Job description:
A psychology doctor in a clinic setting is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and preventing a wide range of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Their work is diverse, involving direct patient care, collaboration with other professionals, and often research or administration.
Job Responsibilities
- Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations using interviews, behavioral observations, and standardized psychometric tests to understand a patient's needs and diagnose conditions.
- Treatment Planning and Intervention: Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans and therapeutic interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or psychodynamic therapy.
- Therapy and Counseling: Provide individual, group, couple, and family therapy sessions to help clients process emotions, develop coping mechanisms, and achieve personal and social goals.
- Monitoring Progress: Regularly monitor and review the client's progress, adjusting the treatment plan as necessary to ensure its effectiveness.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and urgent care during psychiatric emergencies or traumatic events (e.g., suicidal ideation or a natural disaster).
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, accurate, and confidential patient records in compliance with legal and ethical standards, including writing reports and clinical notes.
Additional Duties
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work as part of a team alongside psychiatrists (who may prescribe medication), nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and general physicians to provide holistic, integrated care.
- Consultation: Offer psychological advice and consultation to other professionals, organizations, and community agencies regarding patient care, mental health issues, or program development.
- Supervision and Training: Mentor and supervise junior psychologists, trainees, and interns, and potentially plan and deliver formal training sessions or workshops to staff and community groups.
- Research and Academia: Many psychology doctors engage in research to advance the field, publish findings in journals, and some may teach at universities.
Qualification:
with DHA/DPH License
