Job Summary
Houston Research Institute-Sugarland and Kingwood is seeking an ONSITE - Clinical Research Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to serve as a Sub Investigator on study protocols. HRI-Sugarland and Kingwood specializes in clinical research studies in the areas of obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome and fatty liver disease. In this role, you'll conduct follow-up visits, review labs, recruit subjects, and collaborate with our clinical operations team. Qualified candidates will have an advanced degree and 1–2 years of relevant experience, be licensed as an advanced nurse practitioner or physician assistant, and have a keen interest and or experience with clinical trials. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a collaborative attitude are essential. In this position you will work along side our principal investigators who are leaders in research and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions as required.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and interpret lab results.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding health management and disease prevention.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in various settings including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and assisted living facilities.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions including but not limited to geriatrics, pediatrics, and urgent care scenarios.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives as needed.
- Ensure adherence to NCQA standards and quality improvement protocols.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
- Background in critical care, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine preferred.
- Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology.
- Experience in specialties such as gastroenterology, infectious disease care, or behavioral health is a plus.
- Proficiency in performing procedures such as suturing, phlebotomy, catheterization, spinal taps, and airway management.
- Previous work in settings like nursing homes, home care, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of pain management techniques including acute pain management and palliative care practices.
- Ability to work with diverse populations including children and individuals with developmental disabilities.
