JOB DESCRIPTION:

The University of Florida Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to support innovative, patient-centered studies in a fast-paced academic medical center. Reporting to the Research Manager and working closely with principal investigators, this role manages the full lifecycle of clinical research from patient screening and data collection to regulatory compliance and study oversight.

Responsibilities:

Conduct of Research

  • Support the clinical conduct of emergency medicine research studies in accordance with study protocols and timelines.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of study protocols, including inclusion/exclusion criteria, confidentiality, and privacy protections.

  • Communicate study requirements to all team members, provide appropriate training and tools, and maintain training documentation.

  • Collect and prepare all study initiation documents for sponsor submission (e.g., FDA Form 1572, CVs).

  • Lead or participate in the informed consent process, including IRB interactions and sensitive discussions with patients or legal representatives of critically ill participants.

  • Screen and document potential participants’ eligibility, register participants for proper billing, and coordinate with nursing/clinical staff to obtain and process blood specimens.

  • Collaborate with the Research Manager to troubleshoot and manage daily study operations.

Regulatory & IRB Compliance

  • Prepare and submit IRB continuing reviews, amendments, and serious adverse event reports.

  • Attend IRB meetings when departmental protocols are under review.

  • Draft and maintain study materials such as informed consent forms, FDA Form 1572, financial disclosures, regulatory binders, and source documentation.

  • Ensure all regulatory submissions meet federal, university, and sponsor requirements.

Program Support & Study Execution

  • Coordinate with Principal Investigators, the Institutional Review Board, and Research Administration to ensure adherence to all regulations and institutional policies.

  • Oversee subject recruitment and enrollment goals, implementing effective participant recruitment strategies.

Schedule: Incumbent should have flexible availability, including some evenings and weekends, to meet study needs and enrollment targets.

EXPECTED SALARY:

The annual salary ranges between $41,000 - $45,000 and is commensurate with education and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's degree or an allied health professional degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



PREFERRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience.
  • Appropriate specialization areas including nursing, public health, and other health-oriented degrees.
  • One year prior experience with clinical research or experience working in acute care (emergency or critically care) populations is preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate work assignments
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication skill and
    knowledge with various computer programs
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures Ability to independently perform various administrative tasks
  • Ability to collect and organize data for scientific presentation and publication Ability to meet deadlines
