The Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHIFL) is expanding our hospital by adding 16 forensic beds to our current 138 patient beds. This expansion will assist in our mission of providing Colorado with the best behavioral health care available. About the this unit:
Support Services works to interface with internal customers, community agencies, vendors, and community groups to meet the goals and objectives of support functions, hospital operations, and safety and security at CMHHIFL.
The Safety Department exists to maintain the safety , security, and transportation needs of the CMHHIFL hospital. . Duties of the Safety Department include maintaining a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors, providing assistance to the
clinical staff in the various types of patient treatment programs, assisting with the management of aggressive/assaultive individuals, and monitoring and evaluating the impact of applicable laws and regulations. The Safety Department staff follows accepted practices including policies and procedures. The department supports patient care and the safety of buildings, grounds, equipment, occupants, and internal physical systems. This work unit reports and resolves situations that pose a threat to life, health, or property.
To lead and assist in provision of a safe environment in which patients of civil commitment may be transported to/from on-grounds and off-grounds appointments, hospital activities, and other meetings and/or required transportation needs by oversight of trained personnel. CSO Transportation staff will provide necessary movements to and from medical appointments, cafeteria treatment mall, clinical activities, court visitations, personal appointments of therapeutic needs, in partnership with appropriate additional hospital personnel/nursing/clinical staff as required. Visitation support will be provided as available.
Assist in Supervision of Communications Staff and Transport Team Staff:
This position assists to provide work leaders duties to include the monitoring and supporting work standards of the CYSO/Transport Team staff in conjunction with the CSO III and/or the appointing authority. Train, mentor and coach staff in assuring implementation of CYSO/Transport Team policy and procedures. Ensures sufficient coverage on each shift is available for assignment by scheduling and rearranging schedules to meet the minimum requirement to maintain business needs in conjunction with departmental standards. Communicates scheduled assignments and changes to the Transport Team CSO III and Director of Safety and/or Chief Support Services Officer. Interview applicants and recommend selections for hire, promotion, and/or transfer. Ensure all interactions with staff and patients are professional, clear, consistent, and transparent to establish and maintain the level and quality of communication, fostering support of facility goals and objectives.
Transport of Patients/Escorting Patient(s) to Designated Activities/Appointments:
To provide safe, efficient, coordinated patient care transport via escorting patients and providing observational, direct site line, and/or physical control (as a last resort) of patients in provision of patient movement to/from designation of on grounds and off grounds activities and appointments. As a work lead, provides training/modeling to subordinate staff on departmental protocols regarding patient transportation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
College education in a behavioral health and/or justice related field.
Experience working with adjudicated and/or detained within a secure residential facility and/or a behavioral health setting
Experience utilizing verbal de-escalation and motivational techniques. Experience in motivating and managing staff
Experience in scheduling for a 24/7 entity as a shift lead
Strong organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work well interpersonally with key stakeholders.
Ability to problem solve and execute decisions
Ability to work in a complex political environment
Ability for self-motivation
