Clinical Support Coordinator (MA/Scribe)

Job Title: Clinical Support Coordinator

Summary: The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities relating to the delivery of care on behalf of the provider. Supports communication between patients, provider and clinical team to provide an outstanding patient and provider experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Assist provider in creating and transcribing medical records and visit notes
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of the medical chart under the supervision of the provider
  • Performs other related medical record or clerical duties to increase provider effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity for improved patient flow and satisfaction
  • Ensures appropriate and adequate administrative support to provider
  • Collaborate with departments to avoid patient care delays and keep the patient and provider informed of any unexpected challenges or barriers to care
  • Act as a liaison to provider, collaborating with the medical team, frequently keeping all informed
  • Assist in answering provider team phone calls as needed
  • Connect provider with external entities/care team members when requested
  • Assist with patient care as appropriate which may include but is not limited to: scheduling and referral coordination
  • Discharge patients and assist in completing medical records
  • Ensure patient records are received from and sent to appropriate parties
  • Assist in the upkeep of patient visit documentation, provider charge auditing/billing
  • Participate in patient visits as requested by the provider
  • Monitor memos, call backs and follow up for patients within the assigned team
  • Attend departmental meetings as needed
  • Comply with HIPAA standards in all patient documentation and interactions
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Medical Assistant required
  • Experience in a medical setting
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology
  • Prior experience customer or patient services
  • Understanding of how the clinic as a whole operates
  • Excellent computer skills

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Email software.
  • Have the ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, fax and copy machines.

Language Ability

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

This position is in a standard medical office environment with desktop business equipment and frequent telephone calls. There may be frequent interruptions and high utilization on some days and low utilization on others. The noise level is moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.41 - $31.55 per hour
