Job Details:
Purpose
The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing is seeking Clinical Teaching Assistants (CTA) to assist program faculty members in supervising and supporting BSN students during their clinical rotations. CTAs will work under the supervision of a UT-SON faculty member and will help facilitate the development of clinical skills in alignment with program objectives.
Responsibilities
  • Support faculty in providing clinical instruction to nursing students in hospital, healthcare, or laboratory settings
  • Demonstrate clinical skills to nursing students; Model appropriate professional behavior at all times
  • Supervise and guide nursing students during clinical and simulation learning experiences (e.g., patient care, charting, IV starts, blood draws, Foley catheter insertions)
  • Monitor student adherence to safety protocols and professional standards of practice
  • Provide students with constructive feedback to support skill development and performance improvement
  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure clinical competencies are met and student needs are addressed
  • Maintain compliance with institutional and clinical site policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervising UT SON faculty member
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or higher
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Texas
  • Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in assigned practice area
  • Professional demeanor; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Pre-hire drug testing (paid for by the department) and a fit for duty physical
  • examination (not paid or reimbursed by the University) will be required before
  • starting work
Salary Range
$40.00 per hour (non-negotiable)
Working Conditions
  • Onsite work in clinic, hospital, or laboratory setting
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required
Work Shift
  • Variable schedule (2 to 15 hours per week)
  • Work will be performed during scheduled course times throughout the UT Austin academic
    year
