The Clinical Training & Technical Assistance (T/TA) Specialist (Rural Focus) supports a federally funded initiative to improve cancer screening across health centers nationwide. This role provides direct, hands-on technical assistance and training to clinical and administrative teams, with a strong emphasis on supporting rural and underserved communities.
Working under the direction of the T/TA Lead, the Specialist translates program strategy into practice by delivering evidence-based solutions that improve screening rates, enhance care coordination, and reduce health disparities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Clinical T/TA Specialist will:
Technical Assistance Delivery
- Provide direct technical assistance to health centers through virtual and on-site engagements
- Conduct site visits, including workflow assessments and implementation planning
- Support adoption of evidence-based interventions to improve cancer screening and follow-up care
Training & Facilitation
- Deliver training to clinical and administrative staff on cancer screening guidelines and best practices
- Provide instruction on patient navigation, care coordination, and quality improvement methodologies (e.g., PDSA cycles)
- Support webinars and Communities of Practice in collaboration with subject matter experts
Rural Health Focus
- Tailor technical assistance approaches to address rural health system challenges
- Address barriers related to access, workforce, and health disparities
- Ensure culturally responsive and community-informed service delivery
Program Coordination & Collaboration
- Collaborate with the T/TA Lead, Project Manager, and cross-functional team members
- Engage subject matter experts to support training and technical assistance delivery
- Support integrated program implementation across stakeholders
Documentation & Reporting
- Document technical assistance activities, site visit findings, and recommendations
- Contribute to program reporting and performance tracking
- Identify trends, challenges, and best practices across participating health centers
Education and/or Experience
Required:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in clinical training, technical assistance, or practice transformation
- Experience working with rural health populations
- Experience supporting cancer screening, preventive care, or population health initiatives
- Ability to travel approximately 15% for on-site support
Preferred:
- Experience working with HRSA-funded health centers or federal health programs
- Familiarity with rural health systems and care delivery models
- Experience with patient navigation and care coordination
- Experience supporting peer learning or Communities of Practice
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, PDSA cycles)
- Excellent facilitation and training skills (virtual and in-person)
- Ability to assess clinical workflows and implement improvements
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Cultural competence and experience working with underserved populations
