Clinician – Mental Health Diversion Program
Support individuals living with serious mental illness as they navigate the justice system and transition into community-based recovery. As a Clinician in the Mental Health Diversion Program, you will complete clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and coordinate services for justice-involved participants in Atlantic and Cape May Counties. This program connects individuals with behavioral health treatment, recovery supports, and essential community resources as an alternative to incarceration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments, diagnostic screenings, and clinical evaluations
  • Develop individualized treatment and service plans based on participant needs
  • Provide clinical interventions including Positive Behavioral Supports, Motivational Interviewing, and crisis intervention
  • Monitor participant progress and adjust treatment recommendations as needed
  • Communicate regularly with courts, probation, prosecutors, defense counsel, and treatment providers
  • Facilitate referrals to housing, employment, education, and other wraparound services
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and court hearings
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and county databases
  • Support program reporting, data collection, and quality assurance activities
  • Uphold confidentiality, agency policies, and professional ethical standards

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work
  • Active New Jersey LSW in good standing
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical or case management experience in behavioral health, correctional, or community settings preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs required
  • Experience in diversion, reentry, or alternate sentencing programs strongly preferred
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License required
