Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions is committed to creating solutions that matter for people and our planet for generations to come. From the beginning, we've led in inventing new technologies and entirely new industries. Today, we continue to lead because we have a world-class, diverse workforce that puts the customer at the center of everything we do

Role Description:

The Microservices Platform Engineer designs and supports the container orchestration and runtime environments that power Carrier’s cloud-native applications. This role focuses on enabling teams to deploy, scale, and operate microservices efficiently using standardized, automated, and secure patterns. The engineer partners closely with Cloud Platform, DevOps, and Security teams to deliver a modern application platform that reduces friction, increases reliability, and accelerates innovation across AWS and GCP environments.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain container orchestration environments (EKS, GKE, ECS, Cloud Run) for microservice workloads.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to automate provisioning of clusters, networking, and service integrations.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Flux) to enable automated deployments.
  • Establish observability frameworks—monitoring, logging, and tracing—for microservices performance and reliability.
  • Optimize platform performance, cost, and scalability through right-sizing and automated lifecycle management.
  • Partner with application and DevOps teams to onboard services to the platform using standardized templates and best practices.
  • Enforce platform security policies for container images, secrets, and runtime access.
  • Contribute to documentation, standards, and reusable modules that support consistent microservice deployments across teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud or platform engineering with a focus on containerized applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes or managed orchestration services (EKS, GKE, ECS).
  • Proficiency in Terraform and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with microservice architectures, container networking, and service mesh (App Mesh, Istio, or Linkerd).
  • Understanding of observability principles and tooling for distributed systems.
  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps-oriented environments.

Preferred/Good-to-have Requirements:

  • Experience with GitOps frameworks such as ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Exposure to serverless integrations and event-driven microservices.
  • Knowledge of container security scanning and policy enforcement tools (Trivy, OPA, or Aqua).
  • Familiarity with multi-region and multi-cloud container architectures.
  • Certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), AWS DevOps Engineer, or GCP Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
