Position Objective
The Cloud Operations Head is responsible for overseeing large-scale cloud operations supporting cloud infrastructure (network and IT), multi-cloud management platforms, and digital services. The role ensures operational excellence, high availability, security, and cost efficiency across hybrid and multi-cloud environments while driving the transformation toward cloud-native telecom architectures.
Job Description & Responsibilities
- Define and execute the cloud operations strategy aligned with telecom and IT transformation initiatives, including 5G, NFV, and cloud-native technologies.
- Establish and govern operating models for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Align cloud operations with business, network, and digital service objectives.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across cloud operations.
- Oversee 24/7 cloud operations across cloud infrastructure platforms.
- Ensure high availability (HA), resilience, and disaster recovery (DR) readiness.
- Govern incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Ensure adherence to SLAs, SLOs, and KPIs.
- Standardize platform architecture and operational practices.
- Develop and design the Cloud Operations Transformation Plan and execution strategy.
- Assess the current cloud operations model and define target operating models.
- Develop roadmaps for cloud migrations and deployments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform capacity planning and resource forecasting, ensuring cloud infrastructure meets the growing demands of telecom services.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization to achieve cost efficiency while maintaining service reliability and performance.
- Oversee audits, risk management activities, and compliance frameworks.
- Manage strategic relationships with vendors, partners, and service providers.
- Ensure cloud environments are optimized for 24/7 operations, capable of handling significant traffic loads and high-availability requirements.
- Implement proactive measures to detect, address, and prevent infrastructure failures and performance degradation.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and innovative approaches to improve cloud infrastructure efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with security best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Implement robust access control policies, data encryption mechanisms, and network security measures to protect sensitive telecom data.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, security reviews, and audits to maintain a secure cloud environment.
- Work closely with telecom network and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration between cloud infrastructure and telecom services.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders on cloud-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers to strengthen cloud infrastructure expertise within the organization.
- Contribute to annual OPEX budgeting, TCO analysis, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Govern, negotiate, and monitor operational SLAs with partners and vendors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- 20+ years of experience in IT and telecom infrastructure operations.
- 10+ years of leadership experience managing cloud operations, infrastructure operations, or platform operations teams.
- Strong experience within telecom environments, including 5G, NFV, OSS, and BSS platforms.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale cloud transformation and modernization programs.
- Strong strategic planning, leadership, and execution capabilities.
- Excellent executive-level communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, geographically distributed, and multi-vendor teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of major telecom technologies, cloud platforms, virtualization, containerization, and cloud-native architectures.
- Relevant certifications in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
