The Cluster Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing all engineering and maintenance operations across multiple properties within the Millennium Central Downtown cluster. This role ensures the functionality, safety, and sustainability of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems, while delivering exceptional service and optimizing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:Engineering Operations:
- Oversee all aspects of the engineering department across the cluster properties, ensuring consistent standards and practices.
- Ensure the functionality and safety of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of the buildings and systems to ensure proper functioning and adherence to health and safety standards.
- Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules and systems for all properties.
Team Management:
- Lead, train, and develop engineering teams at all cluster properties.
- Schedule and delegate tasks to engineering staff, ensuring efficiency and accountability.
- Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and ensure compliance with company standards.
Project Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage capital projects and renovations across the cluster.
- Liaise with contractors, vendors, and consultants for engineering-related services and procurement.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
Energy & Sustainability:
- Develop and implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability practices.
- Monitor and control utilities consumption to reduce costs and environmental impact.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all engineering operations comply with local regulations, fire and life safety codes, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records for inspections, permits, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and support health and safety programs.
Budget & Reporting:
- Prepare and manage the engineering department’s operational and capital budgets.
- Track and report on maintenance costs, utility usage, and departmental KPIs.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Cluster General Manager and corporate engineering team.
Requirements:Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
- Minimum of 7–10 years of engineering experience in hospitality, with at least 3–5 years in a senior engineering management role.
- Previous cluster or multi-property experience is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of hotel systems (HVAC, elevators, BMS, etc.).
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good understanding of energy management and sustainability practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and Engineering Management Systems.
