Position Overview
As the Cluster Director of Impact and Sustainability, you will shape the transformation of the group into a purpose-led organization committed to a future where people and place enrich one another. You will embed environmental and social impact practices into business operations, create bespoke sustainability strategies for cluster properties, and develop actionable roadmaps that deliver a distinctive brand presence and positive impact.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Integration
Actionable Roadmaps: Create customized roadmaps based on the global mandate to integrate impact and sustainability into business operations.- Brand Alignment: Ensure sustainability practices flow through to the brand positioning for each property where appropriate.
- Stakeholder Buy-in: Drive internal ownership of projects through awareness, education, and mobilized action.
Cross-Departmental Planning
Collaborate with Rooms, Food & Beverage, Culinary, Talent & Culture, Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Communications, and Procurement to:- Environmental Mitigation: Optimize hotel processes to reduce environmental footprints and implement circular solutions.
- Community Empowerment: Support the development of programs that empower both internal and external communities.
- Goal Alignment: Ensure property-level goals remain strictly aligned with group ambitions.
Implementation & Analysis
Milestone Tracking: Coordinate the implementation of plans by cascading high-level goals into specific actions and milestones.- Data Metrics: Analyze key metrics related to social impact commitments and provide actionable recommendations to property stakeholders.
- Operational Support: Work closely with division heads to fill awareness gaps and achieve sustainability targets.
Communication & Storytelling
Authentic Narratives: Support properties in identifying and communicating data-driven stories with authenticity.- External Presence: Lead the communication of impact initiatives via media, social platforms, and professional conferences.
- Guest Experience: Weave impact storytelling into the guest journey and train associates in face-to-face storytelling techniques.
Measurement & Reporting
Progress Tracking: Monitor and report progress toward group-wide and property-level social and environmental goals.- Compliance: Ensure reporting aligns with regional and local regulations and that properties maintain necessary sustainability certifications.
- Stakeholder Updates: Provide regular, accurate progress updates to regional and global leadership.
Strategic Partnerships
Local Networking: Identify and grow partnerships with local businesses, suppliers, and NGOs that align with "profits-with-purpose" goals.
Community Engagement
Program Design: Implement programs focused on education, employment, cultural preservation, and wellness to uplift local communities.- Relationship Building: Foster long-term ties with local artisans, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
- Inclusive Strategy: Ensure community voices are reflected in sustainability strategies and the guest experience.
- Associate Involvement: Facilitate volunteerism and community service initiatives for associates.
- Economic Impact: Promote local sourcing and supplier diversity to strengthen the regional economy.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, ESG, Hospitality Management, or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred.- Minimum 10–12 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or environmental management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience within luxury hospitality, large-scale developments, or destination projects is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI, UN SDGs), and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing impact-driven strategies across environmental, social, and governance pillars.
- Experience in pre-opening projects or large-scale transformation initiatives is a strong advantage.
