The CMDB Expert is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information on all IT assets, configurations, and relationships. The role focuses on CMDB governance, data quality, and supporting IT service management processes in alignment with ITIL best practices.
- Design, configure, and maintain the CMDB structure, ensuring alignment with ITIL and CSDM frameworks.
- Manage discovery tools, integrations, and data imports to ensure accuracy and completeness of CI data.
- Define and enforce CMDB policies, standards, and data governance processes.
- Monitor CMDB health (completeness, compliance, correctness) and prepare regular reports/dashboards.
- Maintain CI relationships, dependencies, and service mappings to support incident, change, and problem management.
- Collaborate with IT teams (infrastructure, network, application, security) to validate CI ownership and data quality.
- Provide subject matter expertise on CMDB processes during audits, assessments, and service reviews.
- Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions to improve CMDB awareness across IT teams.
- Support IT operations in impact analysis and root cause investigations using CMDB data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in ITSM/CMDB management, preferably in large enterprises.
- Strong expertise in ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Atrium, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with discovery tools, integrations, and automation.
- Solid understanding of ITIL v3/v4 practices, particularly Configuration and Asset Management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in English; Arabic is a plus.
