Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and feeding to enhance comfort and independence.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; accurately document findings in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper techniques and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Maintain aseptic technique during procedures like catheter care, wound dressing changes, and other clinical tasks to prevent infection.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assistive devices to safely transfer patients with mobility challenges or disabilities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, behavioral health, or post-acute settings to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly within medical documentation systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical records.
- Engage in patient education on health management topics such as dementia care, Alzheimer's support, or geriatrics to empower individuals and families.
Experience
- Previous experience working in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Meditech for efficient documentation and patient tracking.
- Experience in diverse healthcare settings including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, or home & community care is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to physiology, anatomy, infectious disease care, and medication administration enhances your effectiveness.
- Background working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is advantageous.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or hospice care are a plus.
