Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) professional to join our team in a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of HR functions, with experience supporting diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and outpatient clinics. This role involves managing employee relations, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering a positive workplace culture. The HR specialist will play a vital role in recruiting, onboarding, and maintaining a compliant and engaged workforce committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the full cycle of recruitment processes, including posting job openings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and onboarding new staff members.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation and personnel records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable laws related to patient privacy and workplace safety.
- Facilitate employee training programs focused on critical areas such as infection control, aseptic techniques, medication administration, and emergency procedures like Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Support staff development by coordinating performance evaluations, addressing employee concerns, and promoting a positive work environment aligned with organizational values.
- Assist in managing workplace safety protocols for high-acuity settings such as ICU, trauma centers (Level I & II), and emergency departments to ensure staff readiness for acute care scenarios.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to understand staffing needs across various departments including medical-surgical units, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, and hospice care.
- Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives that support working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities in various care settings.
Experience
- Proven experience working within healthcare environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable.
- Prior experience supporting staff in specialized areas including ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I & II), or post-acute care settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to patient care documentation and medical records management.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, and those requiring memory or behavioral health care.
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance standards including HIPAA regulations concerning patient information confidentiality.
- Ability to manage sensitive personnel issues while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with healthcare policies.
