CNC Lathe Setup Specialist

Step Into the Evening: Own the Lathe, Own the Results

Second Shift, 4x10 schedule

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM - 1:30 AM

When your shift begins, you’ll open the setup packet, review prints, and line up the right tools, soft jaws, and fixtures. You’ll load programs, touch off tools, dial in offsets, and run first-article parts—checking every feature with micrometers, calipers, and other precision gauges. You’ll make smart edits to improve cycle time and surface finish, and keep production flowing in a high-mix environment where no two days feel the same.

What You’ll Handle

• Set up CNC lathes using provided programs, tooling, and job documentation
• Install tooling and fixtures to meet setup and cycle time targets
• Create tooling layouts; select cutting tools, fixtures, and soft jaws
• Optimize and edit programs to drive efficiency and part quality
• Execute tool changes, set offsets, and make minor program adjustments
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches
• Inspect parts with precision measuring tools to verify to spec
• Own the quality of your work throughout the run
• Troubleshoot setup and machining issues to reduce downtime

What You Bring

• 5+ years of CNC lathe setup experience in a lead or advanced setup role
• Deep knowledge of lathe operations, tooling, and setup optimization
• Fluency with precision measuring equipment and inspection methods
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical thinking
• Comfort working fast with frequent changeovers
