CNC Machinist (lathe)

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Crewe Manufacturing Facility for a full time (38 hours per week) CNC Machinist (Lathe) to join our team.

Main Duties

• Set, load & operate a 3 Axis Lathe with a Live tooling function.
• Understand and be confident to edit programs & sub-programs (sinumerik) or be willing to learn these skills.
• Be proactive to maximize efficiency while maintaining 100% quality through independent & validation checks.
• Work closely with the manufacturing engineers to improve quality and cycle time.
• Be a team player who wants the best for the customer and the team.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a positive outlook and a can do attitude. Some of the main tasks will include:

• To work within standard operating procedures.
• To set and operate CNC Machines or Lathes to produce components to company procedures using work instruction cards.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work to fine tolerances.
• Ensure all relevant quality checks are carried out and recorded.

Weekly rotating shift pattern:

Mornings - Monday to Thursday 0600 to 1400, Friday 0600 to 1200 noon

Afternoons - Monday to Thursday 1400 to 2200, Friday 1200 noon to 1800

Essential and Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience working with multi axis CNC machines (Essential)
• Experience working in a similar role, in a manufacturing or engineering environment (Essential)
• Ability to follow plans with minimum supervision (Essential)
• Must be efficient and have excellent attention to detail (Essential)
• Previous experience working with raw castings (Desirable)
• Previous experience working with manual horizontal borers (Desirable)
