CNC Machinist/Programmer

Duties

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for milling machines, lathes, and other machining equipment using CAM software and CAD models.
  • Set up CNC machines including CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and calibration for each job.
  • Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to produce precise parts.
  • Operate precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling, or machine calibration.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency in machining operations.
  • Assist in assembly processes when necessary, using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication techniques.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or Programmer with hands-on knowledge of CNC lathe and milling machine operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T specifications, and engineering documents accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and welding.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds-and-speeds adjustments, and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts (certification preferred), and other shop equipment safely.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Mechanical knowledge of tooling setup, fixture design, and material properties relevant to machining plastics or metals is advantageous.
