Find The RightJob.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a CNC Operator to run our Laguna CNC routers at the Commerce plant. This is primarily an operating role, but we want someone who can also program nested sheets from scratch in cabinet software when we need it. You set up the machine, you run the parts, and when the cut list changes you can build the program yourself instead of waiting for someone else.
If the CNC stops, the whole shop slows down. The job is to keep it running, running right, and running on schedule.
Primary responsibility is machine operation and uptime. Programming is required as needed, not constant.
Opportunity to grow into full-time programming, process optimization, or shop leadership roles.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
— — Operate Laguna CNC routers daily. Load sheet stock, set up tooling, run nested programs, and manage labels and parts off the table.
— Run a consistent daily sheet output to support shop production targets.
— Track material usage, sheet yield, and scrap. Honest numbers help us run a tighter shop.
— Work with pre-generated cut lists and coordinate with design/engineering when files need adjustment.
— Keep machine uptime high by minimizing delays, troubleshooting issues quickly, and staying ahead on setup.
— Program and optimize nested sheets when required (not just load and run). Build clean cut programs that maximize yield and minimize waste.
— Edit, tweak, and troubleshoot existing programs to handle change orders, material substitutions, and shop floor adjustments.
— Set up and change tooling: bits, collets, drill blocks, and aggregate heads.
— Maintain the machine. Daily checks, lube, dust collection, vacuum table, and basic preventive maintenance.
— Read shop drawings and cut lists and verify your output matches the spec before parts move downstream.
— Coordinate with the Plant Supervisor and downstream stations on priorities and bottlenecks.
— Keep your station, tooling, and the machine clean and organized.
— Work safely. CNC machines do not forgive shortcuts.
WHAT YOU BRING
— — 3+ years’ operating a flat-panel CNC router in a millwork, cabinetry, or casework shop.
— Hands-on experience with Laguna CNC equipment, or comparable flat-panel routers (Biesse, SCM, Holzma, Komo, Thermwood, or similar). If you have run another brand and can ramp on Laguna fast, we want to talk.
— Real ability to program nested sheets from scratch in cabinet software (Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, Mozaik, AlphaCAM, or comparable). Not just load and run.
— Comfort reading shop drawings, cut lists, and part labels.
— Working knowledge of tooling: bits, drill blocks, aggregates, and how to set them up and care for them.
— Solid shop math: fractions, decimals, tolerances, and a sharp eye for parts that are off.
— Reliable, safe, and detail oriented. The CNC drives production. If it slows down, the shop slows down.
— Ability to lift and handle 4x8 sheet goods (50–80 lbs.).
— Ability to stand and operate machinery for full shifts.
— Comfort working in a shop environment: noise, dust, and moving equipment are part of the day.
— Ability to troubleshoot problems independently before escalating.
NICE TO HAVE
— Experience with nested-based manufacturing and label printing systems.
— Familiarity with Laguna SmartShop or similar Laguna-specific control software.
— Background in commercial casework, restaurant fixtures, or retail rollout work.
— Familiarity with AWI Architectural Woodwork Standards (preferred).
— Bilingual English / Spanish.
