Dramatic Results is an arts education nonprofit serving historically excluded youth, with a focus on Title I elementary and middle schools throughout LA County. We reinvent the learning experience through collaborative, hands-on projects that support young people and educators.

New Leadership Model: New Leadership Model: Dramatic Results is moving into a Co-Executive Director model. This is new for our organization and we expect it to evolve. Human-centered design is at the core of how we work, so we test, listen, and iterate. We are looking for a leader who is flexible, collaborative, and excited to co-create clear ways of working while modeling equitable decision-making.

We encourage candidates to apply even if you don’t meet every qualification. We are looking for a values-aligned leader who can build relationships, drive revenue growth, and partner closely with the programs team to ensure our external work is accurate, aligned, and equity-centered.

Role Focus: This Co-Executive Director role is the primary lead for fundraising and revenue development, financial performance, and operational infrastructure. Their Co-Executive Director, Innovation & Impact will lead mission and strategy with oversight of programs. Board governance and organizational leadership are shared responsibilities. This role does not supervise program staff or own program design; it stays connected to program implementation to inform partnerships, proposals, and organizational decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities

Fundraising & Revenue Development:

  • Lead a diversified revenue strategy with clear annual targets and an actively managed pipeline.
  • Grow fee-for-service income through school and district partnerships: pitch program models, scope and price services, secure contracts, and renew agreements.
  • Write and submit grant proposals and required reports in partnership with the Co-ED (Programs), translating program priorities and outcomes into funder-ready narratives and partnership proposals; ensure quality, compliance, and on-time delivery.
  • Strengthen foundation relationships to increase gift size and multi-year commitments through consistent stewardship and outcome-centered communication.
  • Support LMS launch and early revenue strategy through pilot partnerships and clear packaging and value propositions.

Financial Performance & Sustainability:

  • Own the annual budget process and provide monthly reporting, forecasting, and scenario planning to the Board.
  • Maintain cashflow oversight and spending controls aligned to program costs.
  • Oversee bookkeeping/accounting partnership, internal controls, audit coordination, and required filings/compliance.
  • Ensure pricing, contracts, and grant budgets align with strategy, capacity, and program realities.

Leadership & Operations:

  • Directly supervise the Operations Specialist; partner with the Co-Executive Director to ensure cross-team coordination and clarity.
  • Oversee key vendors/consultants (HR, finance, IT, insurance, legal) and ensure deliverables and compliance.
  • Strengthen internal systems to support the work and reduce operational risk (project management and documentation).

Shared Responsibilities

Board Governance & Organizational Leadership:

  • Partner with the Board President and Executive Committee to set priorities and support strong governance.
  • Provide clear reporting on organizational health: program outcomes, revenue pipeline, financials, risks, and key decisions.
  • Support Board engagement by clarifying roles, following up on commitments, and staffing committees as needed.
  • Ensure decisions and reporting reflect DEAI commitments, including data on who is served, where resources go, and outcomes achieved.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success growing revenue, including grant writing and either fee-for-service/earned income or another revenue stream.
  • Experience building partnerships with K–12 schools/districts; comfortable with pitching, contracting, and renewals.
  • Financial management proficiency: budgeting, forecasting, vendor oversight, and presenting financials to a Board.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with an equity lens in hiring, partnerships, program design, and communications.
  • A track record of leadership and results through lived experience, community leadership, and/or professional roles.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience with people management; nonprofit/education/public-sector preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; confident relationship builder and collaborator.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; able to travel throughout LA County and occasionally out of state for conferences and programming, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.

Day in the Life: On Tuesday, you’re in “follow-through mode.” You make two important calls before lunch: one to a foundation contact to share a quick win and tee up a renewal conversation, and one to a school partner to confirm next steps on a contract. You check in with your Co-ED partner to make sure your messaging matches what’s happening on the ground, then you settle into focused writing time to move a grant proposal from rough draft to final. Later, you connect with the Operations Specialist to solve a practical problem that’s affecting staff experience. You end the day with a short note to your partner and a clean list of what you’re taking into tomorrow.
