Overview:
Assigns diagnostic and procedure codes to patient records. Enters abstract data in computer and generates reports as required.
Responsibilities:
- Provides ongoing cross training of essential functions.

Assigns accurate diagnosis and procedure codes to outpatient accounts.

Assists with charge master maintenance.

Enters charge data.

Assists with medical necessity documentation.

Logs additional documentation to support coding assignment.

Inputs accurate abstract data into computer system for each account coded.

Assists with other related duties as assigned to include performance improvement and orientation for new employees and students; flexible to schedule; performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Previous technical experience preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Capable of working overtime as required; able to read, write and speak the English language. Ability to work with physicians, physician office personnel and hospital departments in a highly professional setting.
