**Position Overview:**

Position can be remote but WITHIN 60 miles of our corporate office as candidate is expected to work in-person, as needed.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Coding Specialist to be responsible for the complete, accurate and compliant medical coding (ICD-10), quality measures, and billing coding of patient charts. This role is critical in ensuring the highest level of specificity on diagnosis codes, accurate documentation of without conflicts, including identifying and requesting missing information to allow the submission of codes for reimbursement.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Reviewing patient charts and available tools PRIOR to visit to prep charts with diagnosis codes to prompt Providers during their encounter with Patient
• Timely facilitation of appropriate medical records request, receipt, and load into patient charts to support Provider diagnosing
• Ensuring diagnosis, quality, and billing codes POST visit are used correctly, sequenced appropriately, and compliant as per government and insurance regulations, medical coding guidelines and policies
• Following up and clarifying any medical record information or diagnosis that is not clear to other Providers and other staff
• Reading encounter chart documentation and carrying out appropriate click-actions in software/applications to document the action taken, e.g., dismissing the gap.
• Using available reports and other information to review coding and quality gaps and opportunities and their closure

**Qualifications:**

• At least 2 years experience with healthcare encounter documentation and/or encounter coding.
• Some experience as a medical coder with ICD-10 or reading encounter charts for diagnosis and/or quality measures; 2 years preferred
• Ability to use multiple systems/applications/platforms to understand patient diagnosis and quality gaps and take action on these systems/applications/platforms
• Certified Professional Coder certification is a plus
• Thorough, detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering accurate and quality output
• Organized and ability to follow-through to completion
• Experience with Microsoft Excel

Work Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: Maximum of $23/hour commensurate with experience and certification/credentials
