Job Summary
The Cold Shear Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the cold shear machine used to cut steel billets or bars to specified lengths. The role requires strong technical understanding, precision, and adherence to safety procedures within the steel production line.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the cold shear machine according to production schedules.
- Ensure correct cutting lengths and accuracy based on product specifications.
- Adjust machine settings, perform feeding alignment, and monitor cutting performance.
- Inspect finished pieces for dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and assist in minor maintenance tasks.
- Maintain production logs and report operational issues immediately.
- Coordinate with assistants, crane operators, and mill floor workers.
- Follow strict safety guidelines while working around high-force cutting equipment.
Requirements
- ITI/Diploma or technical background preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating cold shear or similar industrial cutting machines in steel plants.
- Good understanding of steel bar specifications and production processes.
- Ability to read and follow operational instructions and technical diagrams.
- Physically fit and able to work in high-temperature, fast-paced environments.
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
