Position Title: Cold Storage Technician
Department: HVAC / Refrigeration
Location: Kuwait

Job Summary

The Cold Storage Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cold storage and refrigeration systems including walk-in chillers, freezers, and industrial refrigeration equipment used in commercial and industrial facilities. The technician ensures that all systems operate efficiently and comply with safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

• Install cold storage refrigeration systems including condensing units, evaporators, compressors, and control systems.
• Install copper piping, insulation, valves, and refrigeration accessories.
• Perform pressure testing, vacuuming, refrigerant charging, and commissioning of systems.
• Interpret refrigeration drawings, schematics, and layout plans.

· Installation and commissioning of Chiller & Freezer Rooms

· Installation of condensing units and evaporators

· Copper piping works and silver brazing

· Performing pressure testing and vacuuming as per standards

· Refrigerant charging and system commissioning

· Setting up and troubleshooting defrost systems (heaters, timers, controllers)

· Electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis

· Reading drawings and executing work accurately

· Handling projects independently from installation to final handover

Maintenance

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of cold storage systems.
• Inspect compressors, evaporators, condensers, expansion valves, and electrical controls.
• Clean condenser coils, evaporator units, and drainage systems.
• Monitor refrigerant levels and system performance.

Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Diagnose and repair faults in refrigeration systems.
• Detect refrigerant leaks and repair pipelines.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control system faults.
• Replace defective components such as compressors, thermostats, relays, and sensors.

Operational Support

• Maintain temperature control for cold rooms and freezer rooms.
• Ensure proper operation of defrost systems and control panels.
• Monitor energy efficiency and system performance.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain service records and maintenance reports.
• Report equipment failures and recommend repair or replacement.
• Follow company maintenance schedules and procedures.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow safety procedures for handling refrigerants and refrigeration equipment.
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards and Kuwait regulations.
• Maintain proper use of PPE and tools.

Qualifications

Education

• Diploma / ITI in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or HVAC Technology.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 year’s experience in refrigeration or cold storage systems.
• Experience in cold rooms, freezer rooms, and industrial refrigeration systems.

GCC experience preferred, especially in Kuwait.
