College & Career Counselor

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Career and Technical Education Career Counselor must strengthen and facilitate the educational process by providing continuity of care to students in Career and Technical Education programs. They will do this through counseling or emergency assistance to students in need. They will also do this through planned post-secondary and career guidance to current LI students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review credit attainment toward graduation requirements
Design and populate internal data tracking system that matches AOE Requirements and targets data points that informs LI CTE programming decisions
Organize current dual enrollment/Fast Forward with LI staff that are offering these credits, with the goal to increase our offerings.
Work with groups of students and provide individual support in the Fall semester of Year One and Year Two to create and review personalized learning plans to develop post-secondary goals and actionable plans.
Communicate with LI staff and sending schools to support students who are struggling, and collaborate with the Director and LI CTE Special Needs Coordinator to address needs.
Administer WorkKeys testing in Fall and Spring and analyze results.
Attend IEP meetings, staff meetings and instructional support team meetings for all LI CTE students as needed.
Facilitate CTE application and interview process in collaboration with the Director and CTE Teachers.
Career Technical Student Organization support and field trip support
Consultation and support for the development of programming appropriate for middle school students
Collect and oversee data entry of the CTE state database, as required by the Agency of Education.
Coordinate Middle School CTE Summer Camps
Collaborate with WBL Coordinator to review student data (interests, post secondary plans) in the PLP to support outreach efforts and areas for concentration
Collaboration with Admissions regarding CTE pathways available
Attend school visits/recruitment events as appropriate
Support student supervision as needed
Participate in LI CTE Leadership Team
Attend statewide CTE Counseling Coordinator meetings
Serve as a Member of Program Advisory Board for Pre-Tech
Serve as Advisor to the LI National Technical Honor Society
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Tools/Technology Requirements:
a) Ability to utilize technology and operate computers and computer programs. Experience and
knowledge of computerized database systems.

2. Physical and Mental Demands:
a) Frequently required to stand; walk; sit. Occasional lifting or assist with lifting, reaching with
hands and arms.
b) exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
c) and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
d) and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

3. Work Environment:
a) Generally inside the school building.
b) Noise level is mild to moderate.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree or its equivalent with a concentration in guidance.
Licensed as or meet the Vermont Standards for licensure for Career and Technical Education
(LI will provide support to the right candidate to get their VT License)

CTE Career Counselor
A minimum of two (2) years of educational work experience in technical/vocational education, with a total of six (6) years of experience in education.
Excellent organizational, written, oral, technological, and interpersonal skills.

Salary range $44,895-$66,256
Start date is 7/1/26
