College Intern, Career Pathways Burlington High School, 2025/2026

Position: College Intern, Career Pathways in Technology

Job Goal: Part-time role working with technology students as a teaching assistant and mentor for the Burlington High School Career Exploration Program. The program is part of the career pathways program which offers Burlington High School students an opportunity for career exploration and work-related learning experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one tutoring and guidance to up to 25 students who are working on technology projects and certifications. Projects are focused on software development, cyber security, data science, robotics, or website development.
• Assist program supervisor with logistical tasks such as taking attendance, administering programmatic surveys to students, and completing daily and end of program surveys in a timely fashion.
• The program has two sessions, one in spring and one in summer, both approximately 60-100 hours. Applicants can specify if they are interested in working at one or both programs.

Requirements:

• Working toward or completion of a BA or BS in computer science or a related field by the start of the program.
• Experience with at least one technical area, i.e. cybersecurity, data science, engineering, programming, etc..
• Previous teaching, tutoring or mentoring experience, especially in computer science is strongly preferred.
• Ability to adapt to various learning styles and respect for individual differences of students.
• Must be able to collaborate with other team members and share classroom responsibilities.
• Strong time management, organizational and communication skills.

Compensation:

Hourly rate of $26 per hour

Start Date:

April 6 hours between 9 am - 2 pm, 15-25 hours per week
