Commercial Associate

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Commercial Associate to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of legal matters, supporting the firm’s commercial operations and client engagements. The ideal candidate will be passionate about law, possess strong research and drafting skills, and be eager to develop expertise across multiple legal disciplines. As a Commercial Associate, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal support, ensuring compliance, and facilitating successful negotiations with clients and partners.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation and legal analysis across diverse practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation, and patent law.
  • Draft clear, precise legal documents such as contracts, memoranda, pleadings, and correspondence tailored to specific client needs and legal requirements.
  • Assist in negotiations by preparing proposals, reviewing contractual terms, and advising on risk management strategies to ensure favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Support the management of legal administrative tasks including case file organization, maintaining records of research findings, and updating case management systems.
  • Collaborate with attorneys on complex projects involving multiple jurisdictions or specialized areas of law; utilize research platforms like Westlaw and LexisNexis effectively.
  • Stay informed of current legal developments by monitoring relevant legislation and case law to provide timely updates to the team.
  • Contribute to a collaborative law office environment by participating in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous learning initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field; current enrollment or recent graduation from an accredited law school preferred.
  • Proven experience with legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw; familiarity with conducting comprehensive legal research is essential.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce well-organized legal drafts that are clear and persuasive.
  • Knowledge of various practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation, and patent law is highly desirable.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with an ability to analyze contractual terms critically and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Prior legal administrative experience demonstrating organizational skills and attention to detail.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $27.50 - $33.12 per hour
