Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks with manual transmissions across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo.
- Drive refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks based on delivery requirements.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery documentation in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before and after each trip.
- Route driving efficiently to meet delivery schedules while adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid CDL A license; familiarity with manual transmissions is preferred.
- Experience operating various types of commercial vehicles such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks.
- Strong knowledge of freight handling including load & unload procedures and securing cargo properly.
- Ability to drive safely over long distances while managing route schedules efficiently.
- Skilled in using forklift equipment for loading/unloading when necessary.
- Excellent understanding of transportation regulations related to commercial driving and safety standards.
